Venus Fly Trap Akai Ryu is a striking cultivar prized by collectors for its deep red coloring and dramatic trap formations. This carnivorous plant thrives in bright, indirect light and high humidity.
**Care Instructions:**
Water only with pure water—distilled, rainwater, or reverse osmosis (RO) water. Tap water contains minerals that damage the plant's ability to absorb nutrients. Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged; use a humidity tray or misting.
Venus Fly Traps require a dormancy period of 3–4 months in winter (November–February). Reduce watering, lower temperatures to 35–50°F, and decrease light exposure. This rest phase is essential for plant health and trap production. Resume normal care in spring.
